Back in the 1950s a visiting British dignitary called RBYC “the friendliest club in the Far East”. The friendly label still applies, though the club has expanded from a handful of members to today’s 600 and moved from a tatty fishing boat moored off Bandar Seri Begawan, to the present town and beach sites.

RBYC has always played a pivotal role in expatriate social life in Borneo and is no exception today. Members are an interesting cross-section of all nationalities including local Malays, and all additionally have access to over 100 Reciprocal Clubs worldwide.

Their main activities are sailing, power boating, and swimming, while the club’s varied Western and Asian menus and two perfect-situated restaurants make the RBYC club an ideal retreat.
